Facial Acupuncture - Restore your natural radiance

Facial acupuncture is a natural anti-ageing treatment involving the insertion of fine hair-like needles into specific points on the face (and body).

Experienced acupuncturist Judy Bowen-Jones holds regular Facial Acupuncture Clinics in Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough.

What is Facial Acupuncture?

Also known as cosmetic acupuncture, facelift acupuncture, facial rejuvenation or revitalisation acupuncture, facial acupuncture has a long history. Records show that facial acupuncture was practiced on the Chinese Emperors’ concubines in Ancient China!

Based on the traditional principles of acupuncture, facial acupuncture is much more than a cosmetic procedure. It enhances health and beauty. It’s a holistic revitalisation process which works at a deep level stimulating physiological healing processes to help the whole body look and feel better.

Today, more men and women are turning to facial acupuncture as a natural non-surgical alternative to facial injections, fillers and chemical beauty treatments.

A skilled and experienced facial acupuncturist, Judy trained with Los Angeles based Virginia Doran, a recognised expert practitioner and world authority in Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture. Judy is a registered member of Cosmetic Acupuncture UK.

Benefits of Facial Acupuncture

Patients often report feeling wonderfully relaxed and energised after facial acupuncture treatments and may notice improvements in other aspects of their health, such as their circulation, digestion, hormone balance, sleep or hair. Enhancing hormone balance may improve skin conditions such as dry skin and hormonal acne which may occur during the menopause.

The effects of facial acupuncture vary according to the prior condition and lifestyle of the patient. In some cases facial acupuncture may erase as many as five to fifteen years from the face. A study published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture (1996) of 300 subjects treated with cosmetic facial acupuncture in China, showed marked effects in 90% of cases after just one course of treatment. The effects are cumulative with results progressing throughout the course of the treatment.

At the outset I will take your full medical history, discuss your expectations and determine your suitability for facial rejuvenation acupuncture. If you have not had acupuncture previously, I may recommend that you come for a traditional body acupuncture treatment before starting facial acupuncture to see how you respond. Everyone responds differently.

The needles used are even smaller and finer than those used for traditional body acupuncture. They are inserted gently and carefully. Some clients find it so relaxing they fall asleep during the treatment!

Your facial acupuncture treatment concludes with a wonderfully relaxing facial acupressure massage. Overall the treatment lasts 50 – 100 minutes depending on the treatment option chosen and the extent of work to be undertaken.

For optimum results a course of 12 treatments is recommended, once or twice weekly with at least one day off between treatments. Many patients notice significant benefits after just one or two treatments. If you are having Facial Acupuncture in advance of an important event it is recommended to schedule your last session 2 weeks prior as very occasionally minor bruising may occur.

Anyone can have facial acupuncture provided that they do not have any contraindications. Candidates likely to see the most profound results are men and women in their 40s, 50s and 60s. The more tired, distressed and unbalanced a person looks – the more marked the effects.

High blood pressure, severe migraines, diabetes, hepatitis, cancer, HIV/AIDS, haemophilia or other blood clotting or bruising disorder, any pituitary disorder (such as a tumour), epilepsy, seizures, heart disease, asthma, acute cold/flu symptoms or fever, allergies, herpes outbreak and in the last 6 months… any cosmetic surgery or chemical injections, facial peels, fillers or laser treatment.

Facial Acupuncture is contraindicated in pregnancy.
