About Judy Bowen-Jones

Judy Bowen-Jones Lic Ac BSc Hons Ac MBAcC AFN.

An experienced and skilful practitioner, Judy has been studying and practising Acupuncture for over 16 years. Classically trained in Five Element Stems & Branches Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Judy draws on other traditional and contemporary therapies to provide integrated treatments according to the needs of each patient.

Judy set up The Holloway Acupuncture Clinic in 2007 to provide powerful, gentle and effective treatments for local people in Sussex & Kent.

Judy graduated from the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) having completed a 4 year full time BSc Honours BAAB accredited university Degree Course in Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine.

Professional

A Registered Member of the British Acupuncture Council (the registering body for professional acupuncturists), Judy complies fully with their Codes for Safe Practice and hygiene and is insured by them.

Judy is also a Member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network. In 2009 Judy trained with Virginia Doran (USA), a world leading expert in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture and facial acupressure techniques. Judy is a registered member of Cosmetic Acupuncture UK.

Private Health Insurers

Judy is a registered acupuncture provider for AVIVA, Simply Health, WPA, Pruhealth and CS Healthcare. Other insurers such as AXA PPP may cover the costs of your acupuncture treatment if your policy covers it and your private doctor or consultant refers you to Judy. So it’s worth asking. Usually you will need to pay for your acupuncture treatment yourself and reclaim it back from your insurer. Most insurers set either:

  • an upper limit on the amount you can reclaim per treatment and the number of treatments you can receive over a period of time, or
  • a cap on the total amount you can claim back for acupuncture treatments over a set period eg a year

Public Speaking & Health Writer

A knowledgeable and entertaining lecturer and speaker, Judy taught at the International College of Oriental Medicine for many years. Judy has spoken about acupuncture on local radio and has written a range of articles for community and health magazines on acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

Background

Judy has a BSc Hons First Class in Biological Sciences and a Masters degree in Immunology & Parasitology. Prior to becoming an acupuncturist she worked in senior positions for several leading healthcare companies and as a Management Consultant.
